Springbank 12 Year Old

Back in 2010, Springbank, the distillery for this bottle released a 12 year expression, blending juice aged in bourbon and sherry cask, semi-annually at cask strength. The distillery is one of the few independent ones that are on par with giants like Diageo, so it is definitely worth grabbing a bottle when they are released.

Springbank 1997 Madeira

An interesting whisky - rich, lively, constant struggle of dominants, mineral-industrial and creamy-chocolate, very diverse, dynamic, there is no particular depth, but this is compensated by density and pressure.

Springbank 10 Years

A complex malt with oak, spices and salt. The malt is dried over peat fore for 6 hours, and over hot air for 24 hours. The whisky is a mix of double and triple-distilled whiskies.

Springbank 21-year-old

Dark fruits, very sweet, tiny bits of smoke, berries, dark chocolate. Much more open after left oxidize for months, where you can get more of the Springbank lime stone, minerals. After a sip, dry figs, milk chocolate

Springbank 21-year-old Campbeltown

Both elegant and vigorous, immense pleasure every step of the way and every time you return to the glass. Unheard of. Intense nose and concentrated on leather, nuts and toasted almonds, a beautiful essence of pine appears. A splash of ripe fruit: mango, guava and apricot followed by a small caress of papaya and plum. Honey and wax in addition to aeration. A meaty hint like a sherry Mortlach. Creamy and melted peat.

2004 Springbank Gaja Barolo 9 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Longrow 10-year-old

Longrow 10. Consumed March 2019 in Glasgow (at the Ben Nevis pub if memory serves). Aroma is a little peachy, some lemongrass Taste again has lemongrass, soft coal embers, very fruity, peat - burnt citrus peels ... interestingly fruity lemon. Interesting stuff - subtle integrated peat, lemon and salt, fruity distillate showing only soft bourbon cask influence but nice subtle wood. A pretty citrussy dram.

Longrow 14-year-old Wood Expression

From the Long Row Wood Expression range, this bottling is aged nine years in ex-bourbon barrels and five years in wine casks. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or the addition of caramel

Longrow 14 Year Old

First distilled in 1973, Longrow is the peated single malt produced at Springbank distillery. Although very popular, Longrow remains an elusive whisky, with only 100-150 casks of it filled at the distillery each year. Early champions of this spirit included the legendary Italian bottler, Silvano Samaroli, who bought and bottled a number of famous casks from the inaugural vintage, and is credited by many with a good deal of the brand's success. It remains revered by connoisseurs to this day. This is an early 2000s edtion of the Longrow 14 year old, bottled after the new bottle shape was introduced at Springbank.

Longrow 18 Year Old

Nose: Dark brown sugar melting in butter, waiting for some bananas to hit the pan. The pseudo bananas foster note is very strong for me. Candied sweet and spicy pecans. Crisp sea water is in the air. There’s a smell that invokes the smell of your hands after a long day on the beach playing in the sand. No cliché peat-bandaids here (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Taste: Syrupy texture, almost expands as soon as it leaves the glass. Initial hit on the tongue is honeyed, but sweet yields to earth quickly. Polite barnyard, properly grassy, herbal, smoky, comforting peat in an Orkney style. Allan Benton’s bacon. A particularly boozy crumb of rum cake. Finish: Salty, spicy, lemon pith, grapefruit, charcoal. Persimmons! If the beginning of this journey on the nose is nutty sweetness the end of this journey here is drying and savory.

Longrow 2001 11 Year Old Rundlets & Kilderkins

A second release in Springbank distillery's Rundlets and Kilderkins series, this time it's a peaty Longrow that was maturing in the titular 60 and 80 litre casks between November 2001 and January 2013. Small casks mean lots of wood contact and this combines Longrow's rustic smokiness with lots of wood influence for a sweet and peaty dram

Hazelburn Sauternes Wood 8 Year Old

Hazelburn is one of three styles of single malt made at Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. While the bulk of the distillery’s output is concentrated on producing the Springbank malt, 10% of its production time is dedicated to creating the heavily peated Longrow, and a further 10% to the triple-distilled Hazelburn. By using unpeated air-dried malt and triple distillation on two stills, the resultant spirit is light, fruity and subtle. It is currently available in 10- and 12-year-old expressions. In the past Hazelburn has been released in limited numbers at a variety of ages and, as with all bottlings from J&A Mitchell, Hazelburn is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and is bottled on-site at 46% abv unless otherwise stated.

Hazelburn 15 Year Old Cognac Cask

A 2018 bottling of Springbank's unpeated, triple-distilled single malt whisky. This cask-strength Hazelburn has been matured in a single Cognac cask and is the first 15-year-old expression to join the range. Expect fruity, nutty Hazelburn spirit with a healthy helping of French-oak, Cognac-cask spice.

Springbank 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

18 Year Old Springbank. A multi-award-winning Campbeltown single malt matured in 80% ex-Sherry casks and 20% ex-bourbon casks. At one time, Campbeltown was once known as the Whisky Capital of the World; as there were more than 30 active distilleries on the small peninsula of Kintyre in Southwestern Scotland. There are now just three. The 18 Year old expression from one of those distilleries, Springbank, is predominately aged in ex sherry wood with the remainder aged in ex bourbon barrels

Springbank 15-year-old

As the eye takes in the dark, russet colour of the 15 Year Old, the nose anticipates the rich sweet smell of the sherry casks used to mature this old style Springbank. The anticipation is rewarded as you pull the stopper and the sherry aromas drift out. However, the sweet nose on this dram only begins to suggest the full range of flavors which emerge on the palate; dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, brazil nuts and vanilla all mingle to Dramatic effect! A truly classic Springbank that is perhaps best enjoyed after-dinner or with your favorite cigar.

Springbank 12 Years Old 175th Anniversary

Raise a glass to celebrate the 175th birthday of Scotland’s oldest independent distillery. Springbank has been an icon in the whisky world since 1828 and incredibly the distillery is still under the control of founder Archibald Mitchell’s descendents…his great-great grandson to be exact! With five generations of experience it’s safe to say the people of Springbank know a thing or two about whisky. The nose of the Springbank 12 Years Old 175th Anniversary has a sweet character with apple, vanilla, honey and spicy oak aromas. The palate takes the apple qualities and adds caramel, cinnamon and a lovely touch of smoke. The finish has a golden honeyed taste with oak and peat and a hint of briny coastal air at the last. Here’s to the next 175 years of Springbank Whisky! Note: The box shows some signs of wear.

Springbank - 1997 Vintage Batch

Found in one of the most remote parts of Scotland, the Springbank distillery is still family owned. Situated on the western parts of Scotland on the Kintyre Peninsula, it is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company. They also own Glengyle Distillery, William Cadenheads (the oldest independent bottler) and several other blended scotch labels. They are tough cookies down in this neck of the world where by they are one of the last surviving producers of single malt whiskies in Campbeltown. They have been licensed in 1828 and at one time the area had over thirty active distilleries. The distillery produces both peated and unpeated expressions under three distinct brands. Springbank, Hazlewood and Longrow. This dram was chosen by Frank McHardy. It received great reviews and was distilled in 1997 and released in June 2007. This is a cask strength bottling.

Hazelburn 13 limited edition

A 13 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Springbank distillery, released under their Hazelburn name (which they use for their unpeated expressions). Distilled in June 2007, matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks and bottled in April 2021. Limited to 6300 bottles

Hazelburn 13 oloroso cask

Hazelburn is the only unpeated, triple distilled Springbank spirit, in a somewhat lighter style. Since 2017 there tends to be a limited Oloroso Cask version.

Hazelburn 10 rundlets & kilderkins

The third and final release in Springbank distillery's Rundlets and Kilderkins series, this time it's triple distilled Hazelburn that was maturing in the titular 60 and 80 liter casks between 2003 and January 2014. Small casks mean lots of wood contact and this combines the elegant Hazelburn with lots of wood influence for an oaky dram.
